Putting an End to the “Who is Sachin” Trolls, Sachin Tendulkar and his Tennis Connection: Sachin Tendulkar, the man needs very little introduction. We all know him as a genius in cricket, also a demi god in the cricket crazy nation India. But if you think Tendulkar’s sporting talent was confined to cricket alone then you are probably mistaken. Tendulkar had begun playing tennis as a kid and had stated in several interviews that if he wasn’t a cricketer he probably would have pursued a career on tennis.

There are several images circulated on the Internet that shows the legend wielding a tennis racket in hand that bears witness to his arduous interest in the sport. Tendulkar, an avid follower of tennis has been in regular attendance for Wimbledon over the past few years. He is friends with 17 time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer and has met him him a few times with Federer stating that he enjoyed picking Tendulkar’s brain.

Federer also posted a tribute message for Sachin on Twitter after Sachin’s retirement from cricket. Sachin’s favorite player obviously is the Swiss star but he stated in a recent interview that he was beginning to like Rafael Nadal as well. Tendulkar also bought the Mumbai franchise of the recently started IPTL (International Premier Tennis League).

The cricketer very recently met his childhood idol Boris Becker (Novak Djokovic’s present coach) and shared a photo of them together on facebook and the photo immediately went viral grossing thousands of likes and shares. Last year Sachin Tendulkar was in attendance for a match involving Maria Sharapova in the All England Championships Wimbledon. After the match was over, when a reporter asked Sharapova if she was aware of Sachin Tendulkar’s presence in the stadium for which Maria replied that she didn’t know who he was. Immediately, the news started spreading like wildfire with infuriated Sachin fans spamming Sharapova’s facebook page with tons of messages about Sachin’s greatness and so on.

Trolls over this started getting viral with several trolling Sachin such as “Who is Sachin?” Now what is more intriguing is Sachin has 10 million more fans on facebook over Maria Sharapova, so whose loss is that that she didn’t know Sachin? Sachin’s or Sharapova’s?

That is a rhetoric question in itself and it is logical to say that Maria Sharapova became hugely famous overnight by asking who Sachin was. Cricket was never a popular sport in Russia so to make fun of Sachin over Sharapova’s comment would be infantile. And to not know a player of Sachin’s eminence is a blot on Maria Sharapova’s general knowledge, not Sachin’s fault.
