With the ongoing India vs New Zealand Test series, the focus shifts back to Test cricket in India. The very first match between the two teams was played at Old Trafford, Manchester on 14 June 1975. Across all the formats the India and New Zealand have faced each other in 93 matches of which the Indians have won 46 while the Kiwis managed 41 victories.

A lot has happened in the rivalry which might not be one of the hottest in the game but has certainly seen some high-quality cricket from both sides. A list of legends has over the last few decades spiced things up to ensure it’s their team which stands up taller. While the Black Caps have enjoyed supreme success playing in their backyard, they have been far from their best in the games played in the subcontinent.

The ongoing series is expected to go Team India’s way since Virat Kohli & Co. are playing ruthless cricket in the last 12 months or so. With the form, most of the players are carrying and the fact that the series is being played in India on naturally turning subcontinent wickets the visitors will find it difficult to adjust to the conditions.

India has a pair of world class spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja while not most of Kane Williamson’s men are comfortable batting against the turning ball. But be assured it isn’t going to be as simple as it looks like, expect the contest to get tougher as the tour progresses.
