In Mumbai Indians’ most recent fixture, they were up against Delhi Capitals, who had put up a dismal show with the bat. Mumbai Indians bagged the match comfortably with nine wickets as they climbed to 18 points on the points tally. While Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult turned phenomenal from the bowling unit of MI, Ishan Kishan was the hero of the batting show. His scintillating 72* led his team home with 34 balls to spare.
Young Kishan has been promoted in the batting order due to the absence of skipper Rohit Sharma, and he has done his job in the best manner. His 72 runs were laced up by eight fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 153.19. When he was honoured as the player of the match, he thanked Indian former great Rahul Dravid for improving his skills and motivating him with his words.
“My coaches told me that playing shots on the off-side is important, and that wasn’t my strength initially, and I knew, even Rahul (Dravid) sir told me that I need to work on my off-side shots so, I’ve been working on that this season and thankfully it’s showing in the match situation now,” said Ishan Kishan.

He also stated that it was not easy at all to play DC bowlers, he revealed the nature of the surface and said, “It was not as easy as it looked. The ball wasn’t coming on, so I had to keep rotating the strike and then take them apart later. It all depends on the practice sessions, and how you train. I wanted to keep my shape and hit sixes.”
The young man has also risen to the occasion earlier for Mumbai Indians as he displayed his class. After this convincing win, it is sure for them to finish in the top two of the points tally. Ishan further thanked his mom for giving him the proper diet as he is able to put in a great amount of effort in his shots. He said even he can’t believe sometimes how his sixes travel such a long distance in no time.
