Rahul Mankad, last surviving son of Vinoo Mankad, passes away in London
He was survived by his spouse Nishita, two daughters, and their extended families.

Rahul Mankad, the last surviving son of legendary India player Vinoo Mankad, departed for heavenly abode March 30, 2022 He was the youngest of Vinoo’s three sons, and played first-class cricket, apart from being a part of multiple Ranji Trophy games as he played for Bombay and won four times during his span.
Rahul’s former teammates mourned his demise after the news broke out. He suffered a heart attack earlier in March 2022 and was in London for his treatment. His professional cricket career started in the year 1972 and lasted till 1985.

Former India fast bowler TA Sekar condoled Mankad’s death: “Shocked to hear Rahul Mankad passed away Comes from an illustrious cricketing family True gentleman Good cricketer more than that a great human being My heartfelt Condolences to the family May his soul RIP,” he wrote on Twitter.

Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai on his Twitter handle wrote: “A flag bearer of one of the greatest surnames in Indian cricket, a very very fine player for Mumbai, and above all else, a wonderful person.. Rahul Mankad has passed away. Om shanti Jigabhai.”

Amol Karhadkar took to his Twitter to say – “Such a great loss to the cricket fraternity. Rahul Mankad, multiple Ranji Trophy winner and the last surviving son of the legendary Vinoo Mankad, passes away after a brief ailment.”

In 14 years of his career, he was part of 47 first-class and List A matches. He scored 2111 runs in his first-class career. In a recent interview with Cricbuzz, he had shared his opinion about the change of the ‘Mankading’ rule by the MCC. The MCC declared run-out of a non-striker as a legal form of dismissal and stated that it shall not be considered unfair play. “My response is – about bloody time!!” Rahul Mankad had said.
