After the first ODI was washed out due to the rain on Friday, the second game which is scheduled to be played on Sunday is also under the rain threat. Only 39.2 overs were possible on Friday off which India had scored 199 runs for the loss of three wickets. The second ODI is at the same venue, the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad, and rain has been forecasted for the day.

West Indies an improved side

The toss for the game has been delayed because of the showers. In all probability, it won’t be a full 50-overs game. India had a good outing with the bat the other day. West Indies bowled decently as well and would be seeking to test their rejuvenated batting in ODI cricket against India, who is one of the top teams going around in world cricket. The likes of Jason Mohammad, Roston Chase and Shai Hope have proven their credentials in the Pakistan series and will again have to step up against Kohli’s men.

Indian openers yet again provided them with a solid start but this time there was a change in personnel as Rahane replaced the rested Rohit Sharma. The focus on the entire series will be the ageing middle-order of India, which was largely untested in the just-concluded Champions Trophy barring the finals.

Pressure on Dhoni-Yuvraj

Yuvraj Singh fell cheaply in the first game for a scratchy 10-ball 4 and will be under pressure to deliver during the series. Though West Indies does not have a threatening attack, the slow and low surfaces of the country will test the Indian batsmen, particularly Yuvraj and Dhoni.

It is no secret that this duo has been magical for India over the years but with the World Cup in mind, these two guys will have to prove their worth all over again. There is no dearth of batting talent in the country with young and exciting players waiting in the wing, which puts the pair under pressure.
