Indian and Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Rahul Tewatia tied knots with Ridhi Pannu on Monday (November 29). Many fellow cricketers like Yuzvendra Chahal, Rishabh Pant, and Nitish Rana attended the marriage ceremony and also congratulated the newly-wed couple for their future. It has to be noted that Tewatia and Ridhi engaged earlier this year on February 3. That engagement ceremony was also attended by several top-flight cricketers.
Soon after the pictures of the marriage ceremony got viral, congratulatory wishes poured in for the all-rounder and his better half. It has to be noted that Tewatia is one of the hottest properties going around in Indian domestic. He burst onto the scenes in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he showcased his three-dimensional abilities in Rajasthan Royals colours.
Rahul Tewatia has been a crucial part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL
While the southpaw delivered several brilliant performances that season, his staggering half-century against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) stands head and shoulder above all. It was a knock of two halves as the batter was struggling to put bat on the ball in the initial part of his innings. However, the dasher unleashed mayhem in the end overs and played some jaw-dropping shots.
He, in fact, smashed Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over to take his side to a thrilling win. His stellar performances in the gala T20 competition also earned him a maiden Team India call-up for the T20I series against England earlier this year. Although he didn’t get to play any match, spending time in the Indian dressing would definitely have boosted his confidence.
Speaking of Tewatia’s overall numbers in IPL, the leg-spinner has scalped 32 wickets in 48 matches with the economy rate being 7.71, which is indeed impressive. At the same time, he slammed 521 at a strike rate of 124.34. Meanwhile, the southpaw blew hot and cold in the 2021 edition of IPL, where he couldn’t do much either with the bat or the ball.
Hence, he would like to put up a better show in the 2022 edition, which is just few months away. It will also be interesting to see if he remains with RR for the next season or not.
