Senior Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has gone through a good season in both the departments of bowling and batting while playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2022. He has delivered some impressive all-round performances for the team after he was released by Delhi Capitals earlier this year before the mega auctions.

In the auction, the Rajasthan Royals bought him for INR 5 crore after winning a bidding war with Delhi Capitals. For Rajasthan, the amount spent on this senior spinner has proven worthy as he has given amazing performances for the team, picking up 11 wickets and scoring 183 runs.

Lauding his performance and the way Royals used his skills on the field, former Indian spin great Harbhajan Singh has praised both the franchise and Ashwin as well.

The way Rajasthan utilised Ashwin’s talent is commendable: Harbhajan Singh

“The franchise has understood the real capacities of Ashwin and they deserve the credit for doing justice with his talent. Rajasthan Royals should be credited for showing faith in Ashwin’s all-round abilities and this is the best franchise to have ever made full use of R Ashwin. No franchise has ever utilised Ashwin’s batting talent before but this team has promoted him up in the batting order and he’s won them a match with the bat,” said Harbhajan on the ‘Cricket Live’ show of ‘Star Sports’.

Batting in 10 innings of 14 matches Royals played, Ashwin has scored 183 runs with an appreciable batting average of 30.50, hitting one half-century. He has produced some important cameos for the team in the situation when it was required.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have qualified for the playoffs of the IPL 2022 and they will lock horns with Gujarat Titans, the new entrants of this season and table-toppers as well, in Qualifier 1 on May 24 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ashwin’s performance will play an important role for the team as they eye to qualify to the final for the first time after 2008.
