Rajat Patidar’s maiden IPL ton in Eliminator helped RCB to defeat LSG by 14 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 25 May 2022. Dinesh Karthik also contributed with a quickfire unbeaten 37 runs off 23 balls by forging a solid partnership of 92* runs with Rajat Patidar. RCB keeper heaped high praises for the 28-year-old batter’s explosive batting against LSG.

RCB took to their official Twitter account to share the game-day video where players like Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik shared their views on Rajat’s innings. Patidar was in full control from the start of his innings and eventually became the first RCB player to score a hundred in a playoff game in the history of the IPL. Karthik has said that this is probably the best innings by an uncapped player that he has seen ever.

Rajat Patidar is a lovely guy who is hardworking: Dinesh Karthik

Speaking on RCB game day, Karthik added: “Probably the best innings by an uncapped player that I have ever seen. Just outstanding. He’s a very cool, very calm, very shy personality actually, very quiet person. You get the feeling that he is lazy, but it is just his personality. I think he is a lovely guy who is hardworking, but with a very shy personality,” said Karthik.

LSG Skipper KL Rahul tried his level best by scoring a solid 79 runs off 58 balls to reach the target. However, he fell to Josh Hazlewood and the RCB keeper thinks that was the match-changing moment for them in the thrilling encounter.

“I think KL Rahul was the key wicket because he has the potential to take the game away. His game plan is such that he bats deep and he has achieved that and at that stage of the game, he is very very effective. It is very hard to stop him because he has a lot of shots and can shift gears very fast. I think Hasaranga was the best fielder today, he at least stopped 15 to 20 runs.”

After this win, RCB is now two steps away from winning the prestigious IPL trophy for the first time in its history. They are now en route to face RR in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad on 27 May 2022.
