He is the knight in the shining armour, a player you could rely on even in the darkest hour, a batsman with impeccable fervour, perfect technique and sane batting strategies, Yuvraj Singh is a sportsman every Indian not only loves and admires but also looks up to with a lot of pride in their eyes. Yuvraj has had a life worth putting it up on celluloid. From the highest peak in his cricketing career to harshest lows, from affairs with a few Bollywood actresses including Deepika Padukone and Preity Zinta to controversial issues with Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, from battling with Cancer and making a rock-solid comeback, Yuvraj has been there, done that.
The year 2016 has already seen biopics being made on the lives of Mohammed Azharuddin and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and a biopic on the charismatic Yuvraj Singh only seems fair. Ranbir Kapoor has expressed his interest in playing the part, saying he would love to play the role of Yuvraj if a movie is ever made on him.
“Like I mentioned earlier, Yuvraj Singh. I think he has had an interesting story,” Ranbir told Star Sports.
When it comes to playing complex characters, Ranbir is the first name anyone comes up with and he has portrayed his ability by playing complex multi-layered characters in ‘Wake Up Sid’ and ‘Rocket Singh : Salesman of the Year’. Also, being a Punjabi himself, Ranbir matches the physicality of Yuvraj, making him an even easier choice for the role.

Ranbir, while speaking to Star Sports, also revealed that he had the fondest memories of watching Sachin Tendulkar bat and also said that he likes captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a person, meeting him on a couple of occasions and was of the opinion that Dhoni is extremely humble.
He was quoted saying, “I like Dhoni, as a person. Because I’ve had the good fortune of interacting with him on a couple of ad films. I’ve met him socially also. I think he’s a top guy. Extremely humble, extremely focused and a really good guy. He’s got good energy, positive. So, I would only score the human being higher.”
