Rangpur Riders bring Kusal Perera on board for BPL 5

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is all set to be a star-studded affair this time around. With the likes of Adam Zampa, Kane Williamson, Jos Buttler and Chris Gayle featuring in the tournament, the 5th edition of the BPL has created quite a buzz in the cricketing world. The latest addition to the championship has come in the form of Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-opener, Kusal Perera.

The upcoming edition of the BPL will commence from 2nd November, after an opening ceremony which is going to be held on 31st October. The 7 participating teams are Dhaka Dynamites, Khulna Titans, Sylhet Sixers, Rajshahi Kings, Chittagong Vikings, Comilla Victorians and Rangpur Riders. Perera is reportedly going to be a part of the Rangpur Riders.

Rangpur Riders are surely looking to make an airtight lineup of players, who’ll be able to take the team to the pinnacle of success. In the process, they’ve brought on board Sri Lanka’s Perera and strengthened their quest for victory. He is known for his unique brand of firepower when it comes to his batting.

The 27-year-old is often regarded as a fearless cricketer, who doesn’t shy away from taking calculated risks in order to bring victory to his team. His journey started from playing as a middle order batsman and gradually, he was promoted up the order to serve as an opener.

In the 70 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) that Perera has played for his country, he’s amassed 1726 runs, with the highest score of 135. He has also been a part of 27 T20I matches for Sri Lanka and has scored 716 runs at an average of 26.51 and a strike rate of 132.10.

The Riders have also chosen diligently from the local talent and have kept Arafat Sunny and Rubel Hossain in the mix. Among the foreign players, the franchise has so far recruited Chris Gayle, Samuel Badree, Ravi Bopara, and Johnson Charles.
