Rangpur Riders are set to feature in the fifth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League under a new owner. Rangpur Riders are a participating franchise in the tournament and they want to take the field with a perfectly balanced squad under the new owners ‘Basundhara Group’.

Rubel Hossain and Arafat Sunny are there in the squad already which is certainly a boost for the team. They also have a fair amount of foreign recruits and are trying to rope in Nasir Hossain.

They have made Nasir Hossain their primary target because of the absence of Soumya Sarkar, who was the icon player for the Rangpur Riders the previous season. Ishtiaq Sadek, the chief executive of Rangpur Riders has informed.

Answering a question about the situation of the team if they do not get Nasir Hossain, Ishtiaq Sadek said they will do whatever it takes to bring the player in their ranks. “Our eye on Nasir Hossain and to include him in the squad. We are ready to sign him at any cost.” said Ishtiaq.

Overseas strength:

Samuel Badree, Johnson Charles, Thisara Perera, Ravi Bopara and the destructive Chris Gayle are the five players the Rangpur Riders have signed till now and the squad looks a pretty healthy one. Former Aussie international and renowned coach Tom Moody will be in charge of the team. Moody was also in contention for taking up the Indian head coach job but lost the race to Ravi Shastri.

The Bangladesh Premier League kick starts in the month of November later this year and Rangpur Riders will be in action on the first day itself. They will go head to head against the Chittagong Vikings in the season opener. Dhaka Dynamites are the defending Champions of the tournament who won it in the 4th edition defeating the Rajshahi Kings by 56 runs.
