The second day of the first round of Ranji Trophy 2017-18 was filled with top-level cricketing action, as the hand of equilibrium swung like a pendulum. After the massive blunder from their batters against Andhra, the Tamil Nadu bowlers pulled things back quite well, picking up 7 wickets for just 271 runs. R Ashwin, K Vignesh and L Vignesh picked up two wickets each to make sure the game is far from over.

After a good start to the game, Haryana is going through a nightmare, and are in dire need of a miracle right now to save the game. In response to 278, Haryana were bowled out for 107 runs in the first innings, and are already 6 wickets down for just 93 runs in their follow on trail. It is expected to be the first game of this season to see a result. Shaurya Sanandia was the main reason behind Haryana’s downfall, as he picked up 6 wickets today.

Jammu & Kashmir has a great day in the office. After packing up Rajasthan’s innings for 330 runs, they are nearing a run-mountain, since the Rajasthani bowlers managed to pick up just one wicket, giving away 150 runs. Ahmed Bandy is 28 runs away from his ton, while Mohammed Mudhasir completed his five-wicket haul earlier on in the day.

As expected, Delhi batters are having a walk in the park against the Assamese bowlers. They have already gained an 11-runs lead in the first innings, losing just 4 wickets. Gautam Gambhir is batting on 136, while Nitish Rana departed after scoring 110 runs. Uttar Pradesh scored 250 runs in a response to Railways’ 182, and that is another game which expects a result soon. Akshdeep Nath scored 75 runs for the home side.

Kerala is going steadily against Jharkhand, and the evenly matched game is expected to be a mouth-watering one as well. After getting bundled out for 202, Jharkhand’s bowlers pulled things back and dismissed 8 Kerala batters, only after the home side secured a 42-runs lead. Jalaj Saxena’s fighting 47 not out diminished the effect of Sunny Gupta’s 6-wicket haul.

Madhya Pradesh and Bengal’s batting units displayed their supremacy over Baroda and Services’ bowling unit respectively. However, while Services are giving it back to Bengal smoothly, Irfan Pathan‘s boys have to pull up their socks soon to keep the things tight, or else Devendra Bundela’s men will walk off with a victory. MP’s Shubham Sharma missed on his double century for just 4 runs.

Chhattisgarh accumulated 458 runs against Goa, courtesy wicket-keeper Manoj Singh’s 125 runs. The only positive Goa can take from this game is Darshan Wagha Misal’s 5-wicket haul. While Chhattisgarh’s 458 was big, Himachal Pradesh’s 729 was mammoth. The man who hit the media by storm last day, Prashant Chopra lost his wicket after scoring 338 runs. Unfortunately, Odisha v Tripura and Hyderabad v Maharashtra game didn’t see a ball being bowled for the second consecutive day.
