9. Quinton de Kock
South Africa captain Quinton de Kock is one of the best white-ball openers currently. Ranked 13th on the ICC T20I batsmen’s rankings, De Kock has played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians winning two successful IPL titles in 2019 and 2020 with his explosive batting at the top of the order. He had represented Lions, Cape Town Blitz, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore before joining Mumbai in 2019.
De Kock has played the Mzansi Super League and IPL in the 2019/20 T20 season. Playing for Cape Town Blitz, he scored 235 runs in 9 innings at an average of 26 and a belligerent strike-rate of 164. His best performances in MSL were 40(19) and 39(18), making apt use of the Powerplay consistently and not fearing losing his wicket.
The same attitude has made him sit among the top run-scorers for Mumbai in the last two seasons, amassing more than 500 runs both times. He dazzled KKR with a scintillating 78* this season, making sure that MI continues to have the upper hand in the rivalry. De Kock has been able to play his natural game in Mumbai Indians, as he knows that there are many T20 specialists to follow even if loses his wicket early.
