The cricketing fraternity was shocked after the news of a blast during the cricket match in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan spread like wildfire. As many as 8 people lost their lives and 45 were injured in an unfortunate incident as the investigations are underway. The night tournament was organised for peace on the occasion of Ramadan as the spectators had gathered to witness the exciting action. However, Rashid Khan has mourned the death of all the people along with his friend who had organised the tournament.

The leg-spinner is currently in India plying his trade in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL) for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The incident took place in his home city as Rashis also lost his friend Hedayatullah Zahir who organised the tournament in Nangarhar province as a way to “demolish insurgency darkness with peace”.

Shocked Rashid tweets for his friend

Rashid Khan must have shocked to listen to the news and was extremely sad after losing his close friend who used to arrange the cricket competition every year. “You will be missed bro #RIP you did lots of hard work always tried to make Nengrahar shining City. Allah De Tolo shahedano ta janatona naseeb kre Aw Zakhmyano ta de rogh sehat pe dua yma #nangrahar #Blast #RamadanCup,” his heartfelt message read.

Even the ICC Chief Executive David Richardson condemned the attacks and extended his sympathy towards the families of the people who lost their loved ones. “We are saddened to hear of the terrorist attack on a cricket match in Afghanistan and extend our thoughts and sympathy to the families of those killed and the wider cricket family there,” he was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
