Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan’s father passed away on 30th December. The Afghanistan leg-spinner had admitted that his father was the most important person of his life. When he decided to play on New Year’s Eve against Sydney Thunder despite the tragic loss, he won hearts of the cricket fans all over the world. The crowd had then acknowledged his courage by giving him great applause when he came to bowl.

There is more news for fans of the Big Bash League as Rashid will continue to weave his magic in the tournament. The Afghanistan star has been named in 13-man Adelaide Strikers squad to face Melbourne Renegades. Rashid is one of the most successful bowlers in the T20 format, he took 96 wickets in T20 cricket in 2018. His presence in the team will help Adelaide Strikers in their title defence.

Strikers batsman Colin Ingram admitted that it is impossible to understand what the leg-spinner is going through after the loss of his father. He proudly claimed that the squad is trying to put an arm around star spinner.  “No one can really understand until they’ve been through something like that how tough it is, I’ve been really proud of the boys, the way they’ve got around him. I think in most games he just looks after us and puts in massive performances week in, week out. Colin Ingram said as quoted by Big Bash.

The South African batsman revealed that the team is trying to keep Rashid distracted so that he can cope up better with the situation. He further added that the squad appreciates the 20-year-old’s commitment toward the team and they are happy to have their star spinner with them.

“For us to be able to hopefully do something for him and put an arm around him and look after him, keep him on the field and keep him distracted … we’re really appreciative and it’s great for us as a team to have our magical mystery bowler with us,” Ingram further added

Colin Ingram revealed that Rashid is in regular touch with his family, and they had some really good chats about the situation. He claimed that Strikers will do everything possible to support the mystery spinner. “I know he’s had good chats with his family … I think we’ll just take it game by game and obviously support him in whatever his decision is,” he said.
