Rashid Khan starred with the ball as Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed Delhi Capitals by 88 runs on Tuesday to register a much-needed win. The win was just the 5th one in 12 games this season for SRH as they kept their slim playoff hopes alive. At present, the David Warner-led side is at the sixth spot in the points table.
Asked to bat first, SRH finished their innings on a mammoth total of 219 for 2. Wriddhiman Saha, who was recalled into the playing eleven, starred with the bat, scoring a 27-ball fifty before being dismissed for 87. Skipper David Warner also continued his good form and scored a 25-ball fifty. Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 44-run knock then helped SRH cross the 200-run mark.
In reply, Delhi Capitals were all out for just 131 in 19 overs. None of their batsman managed to put up any fight against SRH’s strong bowling display as the Delhi-based outfit suffered its third successive defeat. As far as Delhi’s position in the points table is concerned, they are at the third spot with seven wins from 12 games.
Rashid Khan made the big difference with the ball, conceding only seven runs while picking up three wickets in his four overs. The Afghanistan spin sensation dismissed Shimron Hetmyer, Ajinkya Rahane and Axar Patel in quick succession to end Delhi’s slim hopes in the game. The spell of 3 for 7 is the most economical in the ongoing competition.

On Wednesday, Rashid Khan revealed the reason behind his energy on the cricket field. The spin star posted an adorable video of his niece cheering him on from home in Afghanistan. In the video posted on Rashid’s Instagram profile, the adorable kid could be seen waving her hand and giving flying kisses while the bowler’s interview was on the television.
“Haseena Her support and sweet kisses gives me soooo much energy to do well .Mis you soo much Haseeena,” wrote Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan will be looking to continue his red-hot form in the remainder of the competition as SRH try to sneak into the playoffs. Even if they win their remaining two games, they need the other results to go their way in order to make it to the next round. SRH will be in action next on Saturday when they lock horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
