Ravi Ashwin wittily replies a fan for reminding him of the ‘mankading incident’

The 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) turned out to be an interesting one for Ravi Ashwin. The off-spinner captained the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) franchise for the second year in succession. And once again, his team failed to qualify for the playoffs after promising a whole lot. It will now be interesting to see if Ashwin gets retained as the KXIP captain or not.

During the T20 tournament, the Indian Test specialist was involved in a controversy that made the headlines for quite a few days. It was during KXIP’s away match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur when Ashwin found himself in a tangle. The fourth game of the 2019 IPL turned out to be an exciting one with the visitors winning by only 14 runs.

Ravi Ashwin mankads Jos Buttler

The Royals’ were cruising in their run-chase and from the blues, Ashwin ‘mankaded’ Jos Buttler. Ashwin took the bails off at the non-striker’s end when Buttler was outside the crease. Thereafter, Ashwin, Buttler and the umpires had a heated exchange. The Englishman eventually had to accept his fate and walked off the park animated. He scored 69 off 43 and was looking ominous.

His dismissal brought about a collapse in the Royals’ batting from which the home team couldn’t recover. Following the shocking incident, Ashwin was a recipient of severe criticism for going against the spirit of the game. It’s been almost five months since the incident and Ashwin has to face the wrath of the incident even now. Recently, he watched Kumbalangi Nights, a family drama film.

Ashwin praised the movie for its simple storyline. In the meantime, one of the fans took this as an opportunity to take a dig at the Indian off-break bowler. The supporter took to Twitter and wrote, “Yes the same elegance in which you out @josbuttler”.

Ashwin didn’t lose his cool by the troll by any stretch of the imagination. The experienced campaign showed a calm demeanour and didn’t react in an aggressive manner. The veteran from Tamil Nadu replied to the fan and wrote, “Of course.. precision”.
