Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri, on Saturday, January 1, posted a video where he can be seen, shaking a leg with actor Ranveer Singh. Recently, the Ranveer-starrer ’83 hit the silver-screens in the last week of December and has garnered loads of praises from the cricket fraternity.
In the clip, Shastri can be seen in a joyful mood and danced his heart out. Later, Ranveer also asked Balwinder Singh Sandhu to join them. After having the fun time, Shastri, who ended his tenure as India’s head coach after the T20 World Cup 2021, thanked Ranveer for teaching him dance steps.

Memories came flooding in again, says Ravi Shastri
Shastri was filled with nostalgia after he watched the movie on the big screen and he recalled the moments from India’s resounding win in the 1983 World Cup. He also lauded Ranveer for playing the role of Kapil Dev with a lot of precision. Moreover, he praised the other actors for enacting the roles of India’s heroes with perfection.
“83. I had tears in my eyes yesterday. Not because I was part of the team that won it. I really had tears in my eyes when the film got over, because it brought back so many memories,” Shastri was quoted as saying.
“The cast, the efforts they put in… Ranveer (Singh) as Kapil Dev. Kabir and all the cast there; they worked their backsides off to try and look like the characters they were playing. To put real life into reel life is not that easy.
“And I thought they did a fabulous job. Memories came flooding in again, when certain scenes were shown and that got tears to your eyes. This is must-watch for everyone. Get to the theatres,” he added.
Apart from Ranveer, the movie also featured Tahir Bhasin (Sunil Gavaskar), Ammy Virk (Balwinder Singh Sandhu), Hardy Sandhu (Madan Lal), Pankaj Tripathi (PR Man Singh), Boman Irani (Farookh Engineer), and Deepika Padukone among others. The film is still running strong in the theatres.
