India head coach Ravi Shastri’s relationship with social media blows hot and cold. The former batting all-rounder recently beat a number of big names to grab the role of the coach once again despite reservations in certain quarters but that hasn’t put an end to his interesting equations with the public. The 57-year-old is currently on a 45-day extension period and his second coaching stint will officially begin with the series versus South Africa at home next month.
Shastri, nevertheless, is on a roll during his stop-gap coaching stint in the West Indies as India thrashed the hosts in the limited-over formats and have already won the first of the two Tests in the series. He was seen having a relaxing time at the picturesque Coco Bay after India’s comprehensive 318-run win on Sunday.
Ravi Shastri posted a photo of himself wearing a bright T-shirt and a hat and arms extended against a picturesque natural background featuring the sea, hills and blue skies. He also captioned it saying: “Hot hot hot. Time for some juice. Coco Bay Sheer Rocks Beautiful. Antigua.”

However, the netizens didn’t appreciate Shastri’s take and many went after him. The social media users particularly mocked the man over his drinking and came up with doctored images showing the latter holding bottles of hard drinks in both his hands. Others targeted his protruding stomach and advised him to take care of his health and fitness. One also took a dig at Shastri asking whether by saying “juice”, he meant “alcohol”.
Shastri’s coaching stint saw India bagging some memorable wins
Ravi Shastri has had hard times with the media in the past although India scripted some memorable wins under his coaching and captaincy of Virat Kohli. In the last one and half years, India beat South Africa, Australia and New Zealand in an away ODI series; England in T20Is in their den and most importantly, Australia in Tests on their soil.
Despite these success stories, Shastri came under strong criticism, even from former cricketers, after India were beaten in a Test series in England and found a shocking exit in the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup last month after dominating the league phase of the tournament.
Shastri, who replaced Anil Kumble as the coach in 2017, has been given a contract till the ICC World T20 in 2021 which will be held in India.

Too much of alcohol can make you loose the coach position. So better be careful.
