Ravi Ashwin bowls a beauty to dismiss a batsman in County game

India’s ace off-spinner Ravi Ashwin is enjoying his stint in County cricket. Earlier this week, he made his debut for Worcestershire against Gloucestershire. Interestingly, the bowler has been rested from the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. Ashwin though is relishing his time at County and bowled a perfect off-spinner to the opposition to shatter his stumps.

The 30-year-old has already made a telling contribution to his team in his debut game. He has shown his prowess with the willow scoring crucial 36 in the first innings and 28 in the second coming in at No.6. The off-spinner sent No. 3 batsmen of Gloucestershire packing in the first innings. Currently, the Indian is bowling in the second innings as his side is defending a massive score of 401 runs. He has already scalped a 3-for in the innings and his figures read 23-4-50-3.

Ashwin’s poor record overseas

While Ashwin is enjoying his time in England right now playing some much County Cricket, his international record has been very poor in the country. Moreover, he is less effective outside sub-continent in countries like England, Australia, and South Africa. Most of the times, he has been dropped from the side when India play overseas.

This time though, the bowler seems adamant to make an impact as India are scheduled to tour England next year. The experience of playing in such conditions would surely hold Ashwin in good stead for the tour.

There were questions of Ashwin coming back in the limited overs squad after he was not selected for Sri Lanka series. But the bowler himself made it clear that he was rested and not dropped for the series. As Ashwin is becoming a brilliant bowler in Test for India, he is not having a good run in ODIs this year. The off-spinner needs to keep picking wickets to be in contention for the 2019 World Cup which will also be held in England.
