After hitting a record-breaking century in the first T20I, Glenn Maxwell treated his fans with yet another super show yesterday when he smashed a quick fire 29 balls 66 run knock. Maxwell was at his attacking best and rallied the chase for Australia almost single-handedly.
Thanks to his audacious approach, the Australians were well on course of chasing the modest 129 runs target set by Sri Lanka inside 12 overs. His sparkling innings, studded with 7 fours and 4 sixes, was delightful to watch, especially after witnessing a sluggish batting display from the Sri Lankans in the first innings.
Everyone was in awe of his striking and the Twitter flowed with tweets praising his scoring abilities, including his on-field rival Ravichandran Ashwin. The player versus player battle between Ravichandran Ashwin and Glenn Maxwell is always on whenever India and Australia meet as both are very well-known for their innovative approach towards their respective work.
So, when Maxwell thwacking the Lankan bowlers, Ashwin decided to appreciate his ability and make sure that everybody remained intact on their seats.
He tweeted: Ok sssshhhh Maxwell batting, teeing off already. Always makes for good viewing.

Coming into the match, the hosts could manage just 128/9 in the first innings after having chosen to bat first. There batting was at its worse as no batsman except Kusal Mendis (62 from 50 balls) could do anything significant. In reply, The Australians were off to a flier. Maxwell looked in a hurry scored runs at a quick rate.
The game was almost in the pocket with the visitors sitting pretty at 93/0 in the 9th over. However, the Sri Lankan spinners then came into the picture and added some thrill to the one-sided contest. Suddenly a cluster of wicket fell and the game looked interesting. However, unfortunately, the target, in the end, was too small despite all the efforts from the spinner and the visitors chased down the target with 4 wickets I hand to pocket the series 2-0.
Here is how Twitterati replied to Ashwin’s tweet:
