The Gujarat Lions team owner Keshav Bansal believes that the performances of their all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja would be the key to their success in the upcoming edition of the IPL. The 2017 edition of the IPL is just a couple of weeks away and the build up to the T20 carnival is huge. Last year, there were two new teams that made it to the tournament roster – Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions. While the RPS unit had a forgettable start to the season, the Lions made a very impressive debut.
They ended up reaching the playoffs, which could be termed as an achievement in itself. Now, this year, they would be hoping to better their performances and get a shade better. They surely missed the services of Ravindra Jadeja at his prime last year. Jadeja played for the Lions but could not be as effective as he potentially looks at this point of time.
He has been phenomenal in the ongoing home Test season and had recently escalated to the top of the bowlers’ rankings in the Tests. He has picked up wickets at will. More importantly, he has added a few quick runs under his belt as well, with a best of 90 in this season. It comes as no surprise why GL owner Keshav Bansal believes Jadeja to be the trump card.
As per the quotes in Times of India, Bansal quoted, “Jadeja has been in great form and doing well for the country in the ongoing Test series against Australia. He was rewarded by becoming world number one bowler in the recently announced ICC rankings. He (Jadeja) has been in great rhythm and expectations are high from the team that he would deliver his best. His performance would be the key for team’s success in IPL 10.”
Bansal also gave an injury update of West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. He noted that the all-rounder might miss out the first few games of the tournament. Also, he noted that the franchise is keen on beefing up their bowling this season.
“Bravo may miss initial couple of matches due to injury. Last time, our bowling was a bit weak and this time we want to make it stronger and chose players accordingly to strengthen our bowling,” Bansal conceded.
