After a heroic performance in the IPL 2019 opener, Harbhajan Singh sent a message to all the other teams that he is not done yet. The veteran Indian spinner who represented the national side in over 100 Tests, picked up the all-important wickets of Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers, thus breaking RCB’s backbone and won the Man of the Match award.

As wonderful as the Chennai Super Kings were on the day, the visiting side put up a lacklustre performance and failed to stand on level terms with the defending champions. After getting bundled out for a paltry 70 runs, the RCB bowlers did show some fight and dragged CSK’s run chase till the 18th over even as the hosts won by seven wickets.

After the match was done, Harbhajan Singh spoke about his CSK teammate Ravindra Jadeja and how important a role he could play in the coming World Cup for the Indian side. Virat Kohli and the team management are currently monitoring the progress of three all-rounders – Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Vijay Shankar and it will be interesting to see who makes it to the final squad.

Jadeja is always in the game with his finger spin

The Turbanator went on to add that finger spinners like Jadeja can deliver in big games and should be given more responsibility. He also complimented that the three-dimensional prodigy Jadeja is and reckons he will be a key. On a track which assisted the spinners profusely on Saturday night at Chepauk, the left-arm spinner was a nightmare to deal with for the RCB batsmen and picked up 2 wickets in his four overs, giving away only 15 runs.

“I feel someone like Ravindra Jadeja is always in the game as long as he is looking to spin the ball. He is someone, though I don’t want to talk way too much about the World Cup, I feel he could be a key member for the Indian team to win that. He bowls, bats and is a brilliant fielder, a gun fielder. Finger spinners should be given the responsibility and they will deliver,” said Harbhajan in the post-match press conference.
