RCB comes up with a clarification after netizens call Virat Kohli 'hypocrite' for his Diwali message

Social media has become an easy to criticise or judge someone these days. India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli has been at the receiving end of all the wrath for his ‘Don’t burst fire crackers’ message on a occasion of Diwali. The fans have started calling him ‘hypocrite’ for not calling out his own team RCB and Indian Premier League (IPL) for using firecrackers after every match.

Rather some obscene hashtags were also used for the 32-year-old while slamming him and Virat Kohli has been trending over the last couple of days on social media. Interestingly, it all started with RCB’s celebratory video that they had posted on their official handles on media on Virat Kohli’s birthday earlier this month. Visuals of crackers being burst have gone viral from the video.

For the same reason, the Indian skipper is being criticised a lot. However, RCB has now come up with the clarification over the same stating that they never burst firecrackers and the visuals were used from archival footage of UAE’s Flag Day celebration on November 3. RCB also cleared their stance on keeping the environment clean and safe.

“Hope you are all enjoying a happy and peaceful Diwali with family and friends. To clarify, the fireworks shown in RCB’s recent celebratory video was archival footage of UAE’s Flag Day celebrations. RCB continues to work hard to protect the environment like we’ve over the years,” the tweet read.

What had Virat Kohli said?

On the auspicious occasion, Virat Kohli had given a message to his fans and followers while telling them to enjoy the festival of lights with a simple diya and family. “Please remember do not burst crackers to protect the environment and have fun at home with your loved ones with a simple diya and sweets on this auspicious occasion,” Kohli had said in this message.

He is currently in Australia quarantining and training together ahead of the three-match ODI series which is set to commence on November 27. India is also set to play three T20I and four Tests against Australia on the tour.
