The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been dealt with yet another injury problem following an undisclosed injury to 34-year old leg-spinner Samuel Badree. Although the extent of the injury remains undisclosed, the IPL franchise based out of Bangalore have thus added this to their list of injury on the side. Earlier, Aussie paceman Mitchell Starc also had been ruled out of the IPL following a foot injury.
Starc also missed the World T20 that took place in India in March-April. However, he has been named on the side for an ODI tri-series that will be taking place in the Caribbean shortly after the conclusion of the IPL. Starc was an integral part of the RCB squad the previous season, picking up 20 wickets apart from being extremely economical.
At the moment, there seems to be a massive injury cloud over Samuel Badree. The latter who is the top ranked bowler in the World underlined his credentials as a top bowler by ensuring that the Windies won the World T20. He is said to have injured his shoulder in the final after picking a catch to dismiss Liam Plunkett.
However, despite the injury cloud looming large over the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad, the team, barring a few players began their preparations at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. This included Karnataka Ranji Trophy duo KL Rahul and Stuart Binny. They will be put through their paces under the watchful eyes of RCB coach Daniel Vettori.
RCB’s major firepower in the form of Shane Watson and Kane Richardson will be arriving on Wednesday. Travis Head, the wicket-keeper batsman who made a name for himself in the recently concluded Big Bash League will join the camp on Tuesday. Virat Kohli, the skipper of the RCB will join the squad on Wednesday followed by AB de Villiers and Adam Milne.
