Royal Challengers Bangalore had a great IPL 2020 auction in which they snapped up many high-profile cricketers and exciting domestic talent. However, they had prepared a strategy in what order they will buy players along with the amount they were going to splash on a particular player. This was revealed in the recent video released by RCB.

RCB’s star-studded side has always struggled to perform well in the tournament and are still due to lifting their maiden IPL title. Their best season so far came in 2015 when they ended as the number three team in this eight-team tournament.

They have not won IPL so far but then also they are always rated as one of the favourites to win the trophy at the starting of every season. They have several match-winning players in the team like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

RCB bought eight players in IPL 2020 auction

For the upcoming season, RCB recruited new team management with Mike Hesson as the director of operations and Simon Katich as their head coach. They bought a total of eight players spending a total of Rs. 21 crore 50 lakh in the IPL 2020 auction. RCB also bought Sri Lankan all-rounder Isuru Udana, who has certainly emerged as one of the exciting players in the shorter format in the last couple of years. It was quite surprising that RCB was ready to splash more than eight crores for him. However, the Virat Kohli-led side successfully roped him at a steal price of 50 Lakhs.

In a video released by RCB, Mike Hesson can be spotted sharing the important aspects of Udana in front of the team management. As per him, Udana can bowl with different variations and can provide his services with the bat as well. Hesson was also seen stating that Udana would be a great addition to the team but it would not be easy to rope him because quite a few franchises were expected to pay a hefty amount for the player

Later on, Hesson was seen involved in a mock auction and in that he cleared about how much he will be going to bid when Udana’s name will be taken by the auctioneer. He ended up bidding a whopping amount of 9 Crore and successfully grabbed the services of Sri Lankan all-rounder in the mock auction. However, on the main auction day- against their expectations- RCB got Udana at a low price of 50 Lakhs.

The RCB think tank also bought Christopher Morris, Aaron Finch, Kane Richardson, Dale Steyn, Shahbaz Ahamad, Joshua Philippe and Pavan Deshpande in IPL 2020 auction.
