The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad which is scheduled today is delayed due to the prevailing rain in the city. The conditions are overcast and light showers are expected through the course of the night. It might not affect the game totally but sporadically we might see players leave the field.

Despite the rain threat looming large, it won’t be a problem for the match to start once the rain stops as Chinnaswamy Stadium is the only stadium in the world to have the facilities of a sub-surface aeration system combined with a vacuum power drainage system. The new addition means the drainage system will come into play as and when raindrops fall on the surface.

This system assures that the match can be resumed moments after the rain relents. Meanwhile the home team Royal Challengers Bangalore is having a horrendous time in this edition so far. They have won only 2 out of the 7 matches played so far and is staring down the barrel. A win is a must for them today as a loss will almost knock them out of the tournament.

In the previous encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders, they were bowled out of the lowest ever total in IPL history. Chasing a moderate 132 to win, they were shot out by the KKR pace brigade as they were bundled out for a mere 49 runs. It was shocking, to say the least, seeing the star-studded batting line succumb under pressure.

They surely need to pull their socks and start performing on a consistent basis from now on. Any further hiccups from here on will make their position in the points table very critical and it might be yet another year where the championship crowd will still elude arguably the greatest batting unit in the tournament.

It’s still drizzling at M. Chinnaswamy. Groundsmen are waiting for the drizzle to stop.

NEWS ALERT: Cut-off time for a 5-over per side game is 23:20 IST. We started losing overs from 21:00 IST.
