DIAGEO India, which owns the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) parent company United Sports, has come forward to help the ones affected in the coronavirus pandemic. It has 15 manufacturing units in India and has been constantly producing sanitiser packs to help the government in countering the massive COVID-19 pandemic.

It took less than five days for them to manufacture the first batch of sanitiser packs in the Assam and Goa units. To begin with, the opening delivery was made to the Indian Army’s Northern Command at the Military Hospital at Jalandhar in Punjab. The Indian Army will be using sanitisers around the country at its Army Hospitals and isolation camps.

“In less than five days, with very limited resources and minimum manpower, people across functions came together to execute this commitment. We are proud of this spirit of teamwork at Diageo India, especially those who have worked tirelessly in service of making this happen,” the company said on its social media page.

30 million health insurance cover for bartenders from RCB’s parent body

Apart from the sanitiser packs, the parent body has also donated around 150,000 masks to five state public health departments in India for the coronavirus patients. Due to the lockdown period, bars and restaurants have had to bear the brunt.

Bearing in mind their challenges, DIAGEO will be supporting with an INR 30 million health insurance cover for bartenders associated with the Diageo World Class programme in India. The bartenders will also have access to the online support of the DIAGEO Bar Academy Training Course for their continued skill development.

“We stand united with the government and citizens of our country in the fight against Coronavirus. The demand for sanitisers is increasing by the hour, and we would like to use our manufacturing units to join in the effort to fill the demand-supply gap for sanitisers, so critical at this hour,” Anand Kripalu, Managing Director and CEO was quoted as saying.

“Healthcare providers are at the forefront of this fight, and donating masks is a token of our appreciation for their selfless dedication to fighting the epidemic,” the CEO added.
