Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), told the national assembly committee on sports that he uses a bulletproof vehicle, owing to a security threat. Also, while talking about the perks he gets as the chairman of the PCB, he said that he is “not a big financial burden” to the board.

Ramiz, in the meeting, also clarified that he only made use of daily allowances, and hotel and travel expenses that are given to him under the service rules. In the two-hour-long session, it was observed that most of the members seemed satisfied with the former Pakistan batter’s work with the board since he took charge in September 2021, according to a source.

“Ramiz did tell the committee members at one stage that he only used the bulletproof vehicle of the board because of a security threat otherwise he avoided taking any perks from the PCB,” the source was quoted as saying by News 18. “Ramiz made it clear to the committee members in the two-hour-long session that he only utilised the daily allowances, hotel and travel expenses allowed to the chairman under service rules.”

Members expressed satisfaction with Ramiz and lauded the team’s performances: Source

According to the source, the PCB chairman was asked why the board had not submitted the report of the auditor general (AG) on the annual expenses. Ramiz replied that it is a government document and is available to them at all times. However, he was told to submit the AG’s report in the next meeting.

“But the members told him to submit the AG’s report himself at the next meeting,” the source said. “Most of the members expressed satisfaction with the work done by the board since Ramiz took charge last September and also lauded the team’s performances.” Pakistan currently stand third in T20I, third in ODI and fifth in Tests, in the ICC Rankings. The former Pakistan captain also clarified that the accounts of the board are audited by the AG from 2012-13.
