Movies based on cricket in the Bollywood industry has become a trend now. Zoya Factor is the newest in the list which is likely to hit the theatres next year. The star cast of the film was finalised a few months with Sonam Kapoor featuring alongside Dulquer Salmaan who recently made his debut in Bollywood with the film named ‘Karwaan’. However, according to the story of the film, he is likely to play the role of Virat Kohli in the movie.

The film is based on the 2008 Anuja Chauhan novel, the Zoya Factor. The novel is based on a Rajput girl who meets an Indian Cricket Team through her job as an executive of an advertising agency and ends up being the lucky charm of the team in the World Cup. The story will be set around the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 which was won by India.

Shooting to start this month?

According to the reports in Bollywood Hungama, Dulquer Salmaan will play the role of Virat Kohli, the current Indian captain, in the movie. He was not a sensation then but played a crucial role while batting at number 4 for the Men in Blue. He was the one who weathered the storm from Lasith Malinga in the final after the team had lost big wickets of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar.

It was also reported earlier by Mumbai Mirror that the shooting of the movie will start in August. The director of the movie is Abhishek Sharma and was excited to announce the film.

“Cricket woven into a rom-com and touching on superstition and luck, it’s an amazing book for a screen adaptation. Now, we’ve gone back to Anuja who’s happy with the script to polish it and work on additional dialogues as nobody knows the characters better than her,” he had said.
