The 2020 edition of Indian Premier League is just four months away as the fans cannot wait for yet another exciting season of the cricket carnival. The cricket universe bills IPL as the grandest T20 league on the planet not only because of the players that play in the tourney but also because of the huge attendance figures that the IPL games generate.

To break all the records for a T20 match, BCCI is planning to host the final of IPL 2020 in the Motera Stadium of Ahmedabad. The stadium has a capacity of 1,10,000 and it is almost ready to host a match. This will be the first time that the state of Gujarat will play the host to an IPL final.

Ahmedabad almost pencilled in to host the IPL 2020 Final

The Motera Stadium is one of the oldest cricket stadiums of India but, the state association officials decided to rebuild the stadium 5 years ago. Their goal was to build the world’s biggest stadium in India hence, they chose to plan a stadium which could hold nearly 1,10,000 spectators. BCCI has been planning a big match between the World XI and India for inaugurating the venue besides it is also being learnt that the grand stadium will host the IPL 2020 final.

During a Question and Answers session on Sports Tak, a fan popped up a question about the Ahmedabad stadium. Answering to that question, host Vikrant Gupta said, “Let me tell you one thing, the final of the upcoming IPL season will be played in Ahmedabad. Although we do not know the official dates for the match but the IPL 2020 final will be most likely played in that stadium having 1,10,000 seating capacity.” (Watch the video from the 13th minute)

BCCI has not announced the schedule for IPL 2020 yet however, the fans can assume that they would have planned to keep the final at that venue because of its high revenue-generating capacity. Since cricket has been followed as a religion in India, the cricket universe can expect Ahmedabad to break the record for the most attended T20 match in the world if it gets the hosting of the IPL 2020 final.
