The England team which is currently on the tour to India has been under a lot of pressure. But, as things couldn’t go any further wrong for them, the England team is apparently fighting a sickness bug that has spread in the camp after they lost the third Test in less than two days in Ahmedabad.

Several members of the squad have been laying low after the third Test which ended last Thursday. The loss has created a lot of pressure on the captain Joe Root and caused problems as his team will be attempting to stage a comeback in the final Test, which will be played in Ahmedabad.

In an interaction with the media, Root revealed there has been some stuff that has been flying around in the squad and the team monitoring the players. ‘There’s been a bit of stuff flying around and we’ll keep monitoring it,’ admitted Root. “I don’t know who’s been affected badly at this stage but it’s just really important we try and give everyone the best chance of selection.”

We tried to rest up mentally before attacking these training days as well as possible: Joe Root

According to reports published in Daily Mail, skipper Root had encouraged his men to take their minds off the cricket after they lost the third Test really badly. England was bowled out for 112 and 81 in Ahmedabad, eventually losing the match by 10 wickets. All the players have come back to training on Tuesday.

The member of the touring contingent who has been found to be affected most due to sickness is Paul Collingwood, who is the assistant coach of the England team. He also attended the training camp, which suggests things have got better in the England dressing room.

“We’ve had a bit of time to reflect on things and use that time to our advantage,” added Root, who up until Tuesday had not suffered from sickness himself. The skipper also added that the team is looking forward to the final Test and have worked hard in training.

“We tried to rest up mentally before attacking these training days as well as possible. We’ve had some good conversations and the last couple of days the guys have got stuck in and worked really hard. This is still a huge game for us and it would be a brilliant achievement to leave here at 2-2,” Root said.
