After a discussion between the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA), England has decided that they are committed to touring the land of the kangaroos for the hugely awaited Ashes series that is slated to commence in the month of December this year.

A meeting was also held between the ECB and CA, and it was joined by England’s Test captain Joe Root as well. And, Root has confirmed that England will field a full-strength squad for The Ashes.

One area of concern for the tour to go ahead was regarding the family members of the players accompanying them during the tour.

It is great to see Joe Root and his boys agreeing to come down to Australia: Aaron Finch

Australia’s limited-overs skipper, Aaron Finch stated that England has played a lot of Test cricket in the recent past. Finch also opined that the players will now be on tours for a longer duration of time, especially with quarantine restrictions before and after a tour.

Finch is also happy that Joe Root and his men are coming to the land of the kangaroos to take part in the high-profile Ashes series this year.

“They’ve played a lot of Test cricket so I can understand where they’re coming from. Guys are on the road for a lot longer than what tours used to go (for) when you’re adding on quarantine at the start and potentially at the end. That is difficult but it’s great to see Joe’s (Root) supported that and they’re going to come down,” stated Aaron Finch through a video conference.

The 2021 Ashes series will begin on 8th December 2021, and the first Test will be played at The Gabba in Brisbane. While Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney will host the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Test matches respectively, the 5th and final rubber will be played at Perth. The 2021 Ashes series will conclude on 18th January 2021. The previous Ashes series that was held in the year 2019 resulted in a 2-2 draw.
