Massive news coming in from the Ashes series, as England are reportedly investigating a matter involving wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow and Australian opener Cameron Bancroft, who made his debut in the 1st Test at the Gabba. It has been believed that Bairstow headbutted Bancroft at a bar in Perth earlier this month. The incident happened a few weeks earlier when the visitors were in Perth for their opening warm-up match.

Bancroft, who is from Western Australia, lives in Perth. It is also believed that police were not involved and Bancroft didn’t even provoke the scenes, nor did he retaliate. England are already in the soup after their mainstay all-rounder Ben Stokes is still under police investigation after being involved in a fight0night outside a Bristol nightclub.

No ban on drinking: ECB

There was no ban on drinks from the England camp but their players’ behaviour was under the scanner.”The players sat down and had a chat,” said England’s Australian coach Trevor Bayliss. “They are the ones who have come up with this. There are no set curfews, they are just sensible rulings. To me, it’s what we should have been sticking to anyway as players or people around a professional set-up.” he said.

“Not drinking between matches is just sensible. We certainly don’t want to keep players in their rooms because it is a long tour. You have to get out and experience what the country you’re touring has to offer. It’s about picking the right time to have a couple of drinks, but knowing to stay away from it if you’re preparing for a match.”

An ECB spokesperson declined to comment.
