Reports: No window for PSL 2022 if the league is postponed due to Covid-19

The 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be played between 27th January and 27th February 2022. The entire tournament will be played in just 2 cities, Karachi and Lahore.

Also, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official has revealed that if in case, the PSL is suspended due to some reason, and there is no other window where it can be played, the league will be cancelled altogether.

Also, the PCB has allowed crowds in complete attendance in Lahore, while the matches in Karachi will be played in front of 25% occupancy due to increasing Covid-19 cases. And, all spectators will have to compulsorily carry a vaccination certificate to gain entry into the stadiums for all PSL matches.

What will happen if a positive case emerges in the middle of the tournament?

If any cricketer or support staff tests positive, then he will be immediately isolated from the rest of the squad. Also, all the people deemed as ‘close contacts’ will be isolated from the rest of the squad as well.

The individual will then be isolated for a period of 7 days from the others. And, in case any person breaches the protocols that have been put in place for the tournament, then that person will be fined, and if the breach is a major one, then he might be expelled from the league as well.

The 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was won by the Multan Sultans side, and they beat the Peshawar Zalmi outfit in the summit clash of the tournament by a margin of 47 runs.

After posting a mammoth total of 206/4 on the board, the Multan Sultan bowlers restricted their opposition to a total of just 159/9. Sohaib Maqsood won the Player of the Match award in the final for blasting 65* off just 35 deliveries and enabling his side to lift the trophy. Apart from Maqsoos, Rilee Rossouw also scored a whirlwind 21-ball 50 as well.
