Young batter Sarfaraz Khan is all set to be rewarded for his consistent form in red-ball cricket and for his incredible performances in the Ranji Trophy over the previous two years. The 24-year-old, who scored 134 on the second day of the Ranji Trophy final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium against Madhya Pradesh, is expected to be selected for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh scheduled in November.

Notably, the Mumbai Ranji team is fighting against Madhya Pradesh for its 42nd title. Mumbai are the most successful team in the prestigious tournament, having made it to the finals 46 times before the ongoing season, and clinching a victory 41 times. And Sarfaraz Khan has been nothing less than a blessing for the team as he has smashed centuries for leisure.

Sarfaraz scored a magnificent ton against MP on the second day, smashing 134 runs off 243 deliveries before getting dismissed. As per a report by The Times of India, it has come to notice that Sarfaraz’s impressive performances in the domestic setup is set to earn him a place in India’s Test squad for the Bangladesh series.

“It’s impossible to overlook him now. His performances are speaking about his huge ability and putting pressure on many in the Indian team. He will be a certainty when the selectors pick the Indian team for the Bangladesh Test series. He did well for India A last year in South Arica and he’s an excellent fielder,” a BCCI insider was quoted by TOI.

It will happen if it is written in my destiny: Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz has amassed more than 900 runs this season, which includes four centuries and two half-centuries, and is also the highest run-getter of the tournament. This is the second time that Sarfaraz has accumulated runs in a surplus of 900, thereby becoming just the third batter to do so after former cricketers Ajay Sharma and Wasim Jaffer.

Meanwhile, the report also suggested that chief selector Sunil Joshi had a lengthy conversation with Sarfaraz following the day’s play as he was also joined by his colleague Harvinder Singh, another selector, and a former India pacer.

“This is the first time I spoke to the selectors. I felt good after speaking to Joshi and Harvinder sir. They were saying that despite Chandu sir (MP coach Chandrakant Pandit) having blocked my sweep shot, I showed patience and didn’t play that shot, was taking singles, and didn’t come under pressure. They praised my knock. As far as Team India’s selection is concerned, I’m working hard. My focus is to only score runs. Every person has dreams. It will happen if it is written in my destiny,” Sarfaraz stated.
