While there is already quite a lot of disappointment inside the Indian dressing room, due to clashes between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble, news has emerged that not all is good on the ground as well. Team India was not too happy with the practice facilities at the Edgbaston cricket ground. Kohli and his troop were forced to train at the nets adjacent to the main stadium.

The Indian captain was not very happy about the lack of facilities as he was seen rushing to the main stadium. However, the wicket at the main stadium was covered which meant Kohli could not practice there. He was then told by the ground staff that the Indians are not allowed to practice at the main stadium. There were only two nets at the practice arena and a third one was put in place after a while. The Indians wanted to train at the Colts Cricket Ground which is very near to the main stadium.

However, the venue manager paid no heed to the request since Australia was practising in the Colts Ground that time and they have their first match on June 2, ahead of India’s clash on June 4. The Indians will be practising at the same ground tomorrow since it will be unoccupied.

Kumble-Kohli relationship cold

Xratime.in also reported that Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli stayed away from each other at the nets. In fact, most cricketers kept a distance from Kumble.

BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary claimed that he was unaware of any rift between Kumble and Kohli, dismissing it as “purely speculative”.

“I am not aware of any. It’s purely in realm (sic figment) of imagination. These are purely speculative,” Chaudhary told reporters on the sidelines of India’s practice session.
