When it comes to endorsements, nobody can beat captain Virat Kohli, who is among the highest grossers, but when it comes to his share of the tax-free spoils from BCCI’s gross revenues from international games in 2015-16, the figure is lower than his India teammate Shikhar Dhawan. While Delhi and India opener Dhawan has received 87.76 lakh, Kohli pocketed Rs 83.07 lakh, according to information on payments over Rs 25 lakh made in May on BCCI’s official website.

Ajinkya Rahane at Rs. 81.06 lakh occupies the third position, while in the joint fourth place are Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma (Rs 73.02 lakh each). When it comes to the lowest figure, it goes to Varun Aaron (Rs 32.15 lakh). The information on the site also states that the fees for the three home series held last season – versus New Zealand, England and Australia have been cleared. Also, left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra received Rs 1.52 crore as injury compensation for IPL 2016.

Both Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan performed well in the game against Pakistan on last Sunday, which India won by a huge margin of 124 runs. While Kohli regained form, after a horrid IPL season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Dhawan continued his good run of the tournament which saw Mumbai Indians lifting the trophy. Both the batsmen scored a half century each at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium.

Kohli in Forbes list of richest athletes

While Dhawan may have received more revenue share from the BCCI than Kohli, the amount the latter earns from endorsements is unparallel. Kohli, in fact, is the only Indian to feature on Forbes’ list of top 100 richest athletes in the world. He has been ranked 89th on the 2017 Forbes list of ‘The World’s highest paid athletes’ with a total pay of USD 22 million. And that is enough to explain what Virat Kohli earns annually.
