When Team India wins a series, we can only see the squad and the coaches in the celebration picture with the trophy. The support staff, which relentlessly works behind closed doors, is often kept away from the limelight. Apart from the head coach, there are many other positions in the support staff department. This includes assistant coach, the bowling coach, fielding coach, physio, trainer, assistant trainer, video analyst, logistics manager, team manager and a masseur.

After the two-month long series against South Africa comes to an end, a minor change can be expected in the Indian team support staff. As per a report by Mumbai Mirror, the team’s logistics manager Rishikesh Upadhayaya may have to make his way out of the team. Reports also suggest that Upadhyaya’s replacement needs be an employee of the BCCI. Two probable names that have cropped up are of Mayank Parekh and Amit Siddeswar.

Parekh is an experienced professional

While Parekh has experience in the concerned field and has been in line for the role for quite some time now, Siddeswar’s name was a sudden suggestion. The latter is currently with the India Under19 team in New Zealand. Recently, the team’s video analyst Ashish Tuli was also replaced in the last minute by CKM Dhananjay.

The ongoing India-SA series

India are currently in South Africa to play a full-fledged series involving three Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is. Following their defeat in the first Test, India’s think-tank will have to make clever selections in the playing XI for the second Test. Not playing the vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who boasts of some great performances overs, raised several eyebrows.

Perhaps, captain, Kohli will look to bring back Rahane and bench Rohit Sharma, who couldn’t score more than 15 runs in the two innings of the first Test. Another possible replacement would be of Shikhar Dhawan with KL Rahul. The second Test starts at Centurion on Saturday.
