Younis Khan’s sudden exit as the batting coach of the Pakistan team surprised a lot of people. The former right-handed batter joined the team late last year and was given a two-year contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to work on till November 2022. But Khan stepped down from the post on June 22, 2021.

Now new reports have emerged that Khan had a heated argument with fast bowler Hasan Ali and that led him to quit the position immediately. Earlier it was reported that due to dental treatment and constant conflicts with the PCB made him quit, till the new angle of Ali emerged. Apparently, during the South Africa series, Khan and Ali got into a verbal exchange after a T20 game in Centurion.

As per reports in PakPassion, Younis approached Ali for a conversation outside the match-related stuff which Ali answered in a harsh and rude tone. This behavior from the right-hand pacer left Khan unhappy and he was quiet and didn’t mix up with the other players during the duration of the tour. Pakistan had a good series against South Africa as they beat them in the ODI and T20I series. Later they traveled to Zimbabwe and comprehensively defeated them too.

Younis Khan and Hasan Ali remain silent on the matter

Both Khan and Ali are yet to revert to the rumors about the possible rift between the two. After stepping down as the batting coach, Khan has not spoken on the matter and is yet to give a proper explanation on his resignation. Meanwhile, Ali was busy playing the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Peshawar Zalmi till June 24.

Pakistan has a crucial white-ball tour coming up against England which begins on July 8. The team was scheduled to depart on June 25 and Ali is part of the squad. With this new angle emerging of the possible rift between him and Khan, the pace bowler would surely want the ball to do the talking.

In the recent four to five months, Ali has transformed himself into a wicket-taking machine by picking wickets consistently in all the formats. He would like to maintain that form during the England series.
