Pakistan made history earlier this month when they laid their hands upon the prestigious Champions Trophy title for the first time ever. The men in green manhandled a strong Indian side who went in as clear favourites, silencing their critics in the most appropriate way.

Though it is a moment to rejoice for the Pakistani cricketers the board has decided not to give them the entire freedom. According to Sarfraz Ahmed, who rode his team to the majestic triumph, coach Mickey Arthur has put strict restrictions on their diet. The Pakistani players will now have to be careful about their Eid celebrations keeping in mind their diet chart.

Sarfraz Ahmed was quoted speaking to PakPassion “The coach has given us strict instructions about maintain our weight so we will be watching what we eat during Eid”.

The reason behind the step:

Pakistan was rampant with the ball throughout their Champions Trophy campaign with Hasan Ali bagging the player of the tournament award. Mohammad Amir weaved magic in the final with the ball and was well supported by the others too. Pakistan’s performance with the bat went up during the later stages of the tournament and at the right time. Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman were the centres of attraction in the batting line up. But one department Pakistan definitely needs to improve to keep competing at the highest level is definitely the fielding department.

The team has been poor in their efforts on the field in recent times and the board will not tolerate lack of efficiency in fielding anymore. Hence coach Mickey Arthur has chalked out serious restrictions in the diet of the players to keep them fit enough to perform at the highest level. In the high-performance camp that has already started at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and will stretch till September, the players will have to go through robust fielding drills and sessions as the PCB has decided to concentrate on the fielding department from now on.
