Indian Women’s team is on a roll in England, where their amazing all-round performance is yielding them effortless wins. When India beat hosts England in the tournament opener, the Women in Blue made a lot of buzz in the social media, where several posts on Mithali Raj’s cool and calm composure and Smriti Mandhana’s Adam Gilchrist-like batting did the rounds. A lot of viewers have developed an interest in this version of the game now and they were waiting for the second game against West Indies.

But much to the disappointment of fans, there was no live telecast of the match in India, which India women won, as Mandhana top scored again. In the wake of that, actress Richa Chadha posted a strong message in support for the Women in Blue who will play against Pakistan on Sunday. Chadha in her message says that sports should be followed irrespective of the gender playing it. India and Pakistan will play at Derby.

Richa posted a video on her Instagram account on Saturday in which she said,

“Two Sundays ago, India played against Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and we lost. The roads were empty, shops were shut, it looked like a national holiday but it was just the finals. I want to ask people something – do you even know the Women’s World Cup is happening right now? And Indian women’s team will be playing tomorrow (Sunday),”

No gender bias in sports

“We should support our team irrespective of the gender. So, I am here trying to support the Indian women’s cricket team and I hope you will show as much enthusiasm as you did for the men’s team. Go India,” added the actress.

This is India’s best chance to recover from the humiliation faced two weeks ago, and for that, we ought to follow the game tomorrow. Both the teams are equally competitive and the encounter promises to be a thriller.
