Ricky Ponting said that the atmosphere of the team in the past season was quite great. Everybody wanted to start fresh and the team went with the same approach in the tournament. The side forgot the old memories and was just focussed on creating a new culture in which players can enjoy their game.

He also added that the players worked hard because of which they were able to get great results. Ponting recited that if he recalls the memory from that tournament then Delhi Capitals was the best team in that season. As per him, it was a great experience and was different from the others that he had in the past with other franchises. However, he is looking forward to the upcoming season and wants to replicate previous season success.

“Oh look, I just remember how much fun the whole season was last year. We all wanted to make it feel like a fresh start for everybody. New name – Delhi Capitals. So that’s the way we went about it, you know. A totally fresh start, forgetting about the past and trying to create our own culture and our own environment where players were having fun and enjoying themselves.

“We trained really hard. We played some great cricket. I still sit in here 7 or 8 months later and think back that at different times it felt like we were the best team in the tournament. I just remember how much fun everybody had. It was a totally different environment than most other IPLs I’ve been a part of. That’s what we’re going to try and recreate again this year. Hopefully, we can have similar success,” Ricky Ponting said as quoted by Delhi Capitals.
