Rishabh Pant has been in the spotlight for some time now owing to his swashbuckling style of play on the cricket field. He made his international debut in a T20I versus England in Bangalore and then went on to make his Test debut against the same opponent in India’s away series last year in August. He got off the mark in the format with a thumping six off Adil Rashid, coming down the track.

He went on to score his maiden Test century at the Kennington Oval, though it couldn’t rescue his team from a defeat. Later that year, the southpaw churned out a century against Australia as well at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In the same year, he also made his ODI debut in the series against the Windies. However, in the 50-overs format, the wicketkeeper has had his travails.

Pant couldn’t break into the Indian 15-man squad for the 2019 World Cup as well. The decision to leave him out irked a number of pundits from across the globe. But the rub of the green went in his favor and he eventually found a place in the squad. Shikhar Dhawan, India’s premier opening batsman, was ruled out due to a thumb injury that he sustained during the match versus the Aussies.

Pant got his chance in the eleven when Vijay Shankar had a toe niggle in the match against England at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. He played three games, but couldn’t make much of an impact. He was also criticized for playing a rash stroke in the semi-final against New Zealand that led to his dismissal. Later Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, backed him saying that he’ll learn with time.

Rishabh Pant all set for Windies’ series

Pant is now set to play with the Windies in the Test, ODI, and T20I series. While the team management has mentioned that Pant would be India’s number-one keeper from now onwards, the Young Turk would be hoping to show his class. He is currently in Miami, enjoying his time before the T20I series gets underway on August 3 at the Lauderhill in Florida.

Pant is having a gala time and posted a picture with the likes of Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The southpaw captioned the picture and wrote, “Mellow Vibe ~ Killer Tribe #ingoodcompany #Miami
