Road Safety World Series 2022 to be played across four venues in May-June

The Road Safety World Series 2022 edition is likely to take place towards the end of May and will be featuring legends from all over the world to have played the game. Earlier, the tournament was slated to be held in the month of February. The tournament featured legends Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Jonty Rhodes, Herschelle Gibbs, Virender Sehwag in the previous edition.

As many as seven teams including the legends from India, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia, South Africa, England and Bangladesh participated in the inaugural edition in a round-robin format and India Legends went on to win the tournament while the Sri Lanka legends ended up as the runner up. The Covid-19 pandemic situation had suspended the tournament halfway and resumed a year later in 2021 to conclude.

Four venues to host the Road Safety World Series

As per reports, the league will be played in May instead of February across four venues. Further, the finals will be played in June with the Covid-19 situation in India improving now.

“Yes, the tournament will be staged across four venues — Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Lucknow, and Indore. Earlier, we were looking to start the tournament in the last week of February, but now the schedule has been pushed and it will commence in the last week of May,” a source was quoted as saying by the Print.

“The final will be played in June and we already have the approval from Hyderabad Cricket Association,”

“The enthusiasm shown by the legends of the game for the cause of a social gathering and social awareness is highly appreciable. We at CA will be proud to host this stupendous tournament.” an approval letter from the Hyderabad Cricket Association read.

Also, the Bangladesh Legends have confirmed to have received the pending payments from the last edition. According to earlier reports on TOI, Sachin Tendulkar is likely to miss the Road Safety World Series.
