The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to commence on September 19. All the teams have started training hard and are gearing up for the upcoming season. The defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are also leaving no stone unturned in their preparation. The team is currently staying in Abu Dhabi and the season opener will be played between MI and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the same venue.

The MI skipper Rohit Sharma is also back in the nets after a long break along with his other teammates. He kept himself fit during the lockdown and is now enjoying returning to the field it seems. Rohit hasn’t played any kind of cricket since the T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year. He was ruled out of the subsequent ODI and Test series after sustaining an injury during the T20Is.

The prolonged break has made him more excited to make a comeback and a fit and eager Rohit Sharma is always dangerous for the opposition teams. A glimpse of that was on show on Wednesday during the practice session in Abu Dhabi. The MI skipper charged down the ground to one of the bowlers and launched him for a gigantic six. Well, a few might say there’s nothing special in it as Rohit hits sixes like a daily routine.

But this time around, his shot straight down the ground went out of the stadium which they were practising and landed on the rooftop of the moving bus. The six was 95-metre long and soon after it landed on the bus, the players were in splits while Rohit Sharma hilariously celebrated the moment by raising his hand.

Rohit Sharma-led MI looking to defend the title

Meanwhile, the upcoming IPL season is a crucial one for MI as they will look to better their record in the UAE. In 2014, they didn’t have a great time in the country when 20 matches of the tournament were played. Even then, they were defending their title. Rohit Sharma will be well aware of the record and will be looking to do much better this time around.
