India is desperate to create history by being the first team to win three ICC Champions Trophy titles. They won their first warm-up game against New Zealand here at Kennington Oval, London quite comfortably. Indian bowlers did an exceptional job to get all the Kiwi wickets down for 189. In reply, Team India was at 129/3 after 26 overs, when a torrential downpour began at the Oval.

The game was called off. Being 45 runs ahead of the D/L target after 26 overs, India were declared as winners. But two important members were missing from the Indian roster. One Yuvraj Singh who is down with viral fever. The other, opener Rohit Sharma, who guided Mumbai Indians to their 3rd IPL title. Sharma had to attend a cousin’s wedding and so didn’t fly to London with the team. He took special permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for that purpose.

On Instagram, Rohit uploaded a picture with the groom along with a long message. His message reads- “Bro,
from playing gully cricket together to riding bikes together, fighting together to sacrificing for one another, you have certainly come a long way and as a brother I’m really proud of you. We have had our ups and downs but as father once told us ‘ there’s always light at the end of the tunnel’ we have certainly followed that path so far. Ritika and I wish you and dipali a peaceful life ahead and togetherness all the way. Love.”

Rohit Sharma joins the Indian team in England

The good news for the Indian camp is that the star opening batsman is back. Rohit was not needed in the first warm-up game, but India will require his services at the group stage. Sharma boarded a flight after the wedding ceremony was completed and will join the team before the second warm-up game.

He uploaded his picture in the flight to England, with the caption “See u soon London ✌?✈️.”
