Rohit Sharma overawed by super hitting of Harmanpreet Kaur

When it comes to power hitting and making the big runs in ODI cricket, the name of Rohit Sharma pops up. The Indian opener has two double tons to his name in the format and is known to build up his innings like a crescendo. Recently, the Indian cricket fans witnessed another superlative knock that was built in a similar fashion. This did not come from the willow of Rohit Sharma though; neither was it from any other member of the men’s team.

It was a sensational knock from Harmanpreet Kaur for the India Women in the big semi final clash against the Australia Women in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup. Needless to say, praises came in flooding for the herculean effort of Kaur. Among the many admirers who were glued to their TV sets during the knock was Rohit Sharma.

Rohit took very little time to take to the social media to express his astonishment at the superlative levels of the knock that Harmanpreet played. In his tweet, he called the hitting by Kaur as brutal. He also hoped that the knock helps India Women reach the finals of the tournament.

The big brutal knock

Talking about the knock, India were in a spot of bother when they were placed at 35/2 in 9.2 overs. In walked Harmanpreet Kaur to bat at number 4. She paraded along with skipper Mithali Raj to steady the ship. She reached her fifty in 64 balls. Soon, she stepped on the accelerator after the dismissal of Raj.

Her next 100 runs came off just 43 balls. She finished with an unbeaten 171 to her name in 115 balls with 20 fours and 7 sixes to her name. Her efforts helped India Women post 281/4 in their stipulated 42 overs.
