Whenever India are on a tour, two members of the team always make it sure that they have a full enjoyment. Those two players are Rohit Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal. While one is a dashing opener, the other is a handy wrist-spinner. In India’s opening match against the Proteas in Southampton on Wednesday, both Rohit and Chahal had a good time even though it was the batsman who ran away with the award for the player of the match.

Chahal took 4-for and then Rohit scored 122 not out

Chahal of the famed Kul-Cha pair that floored South Africa in their den in a ODI series last year made a brilliant debut in the World Cup with 4 for 51 in 10 overs. His picks included South African skipper Faf du Plessis, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller and Andile Phehlukwayo and his performance put the Proteas under a total of 230. Rohit then weathered the storm to score 122 not out in 144 balls to take Virat Kohli’s men to a thumping six-wicket win.

Later, the 32-year-old Rohit posted a message congratulating Chahal for his bowling performance but also didn’t forget to pull his legs by advising to take care of his teeth. In the picture that Rohit had posted showed a full smiling Chahal congratulating him for his 23rd ODI hundred which now puts him just after Sachin Tendulkar (49) and Virat Kohli (41).

“Well bowled Chahal babu, but apna daat sambhal le,” the dashing batsman, who adjusted his style against a battered but dogged South African attack to score the century, wrote on his post.

India will be banking on both these players to deliver in their next game against Australia at The Oval on June 9. Aaron Finch’s men, who have come into this World Cup with a regained form, have beaten Afghanistan and the West Indies in their first two games to have four points. India and Australia shared an intense rivalry in the recent times with both teams beating the other on their respective soils.

One of the top draws of the India-Australia clash will be the face-off between Rohit and Mitchell Starc who took a five-wicket haul against the Caribbeans on Thursday even though one of the five wickets was controversial.
