Ross Taylor ruled out of Proteas tour due to groin injury: New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has been ruled out of the upcoming tour of South Africa due to a groin injury. Taylor had injured his groin during a training session. Due to this injury, Taylor was ruled out from the 3rd ODI match against Zimbabwe, earlier today. After scoring his 15th ODI century in the 1st ODI match of this Zimbabwe series, Ross is only one century away from equaling Nathan Astle’s record for most ODI centuries by a Kiwi batter.

New Zealand will tour South Africa for two T-20 matches and three ODIS which will commence from next week. Ross Taylor has been in red-hot form in ODI cricket, this year. It will be a big blow for the New Zealand side as Taylor brings in a lot of experience and expertise in the side. In the past, we have witnessed that the New Zealand side has struggled in South African conditions.

If we talk about ODIS, then Ross Taylor has hammered 1,041 runs in 24 ODI matches at a staggering average of 61, this year. The 31-year old has scored 4 centuries and 4 half-centuries, so far. This year his partnerships with Kane Williamson have helped the New Zealand side to recover after early hiccups on numerous occasions.

Overall, Ross Taylor has plundered 5,621 ODI runs in 166 Matches at an average of almost 44. Ross has complied 15 centuries and 31 half-centuries in his career so far. In Test cricket, he has amassed 4,769 runs at an average of almost 45 with 12 centuries and 24 half-centuries against his name. But, in the last two years, he has struggled in Tests and has suffered a prolonged slump in form.
